Army soldier injured in encounter with terrorists near LoC in Jammu and Kashmir


An army soldier was injured late Tuesday evening in a clash between terrorists and security forces near the Control Line (LoC) in Sunderbani city, Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir.

A defense spokesman said Wednesday that petitions had been received regarding the presence of a group of suspicious armed people near the village of Dadal near the LoC, and search operations were initiated.

The group was followed and an exchange of fire broke out in which one soldier was slightly injured, the officer said. Reinforcements have been rushed in and a terrorist neutralization operation is underway.

The two were shot by a police group in the early morning hours of Tuesday, it said.

“Both the driver and the person in the back seat were taken into police custody. After removing his mask, it was identified that it was Abrar, a top LeT commander,” the spokesman said.

He said a pistol and some hand grenades were recovered from Abrar’s possession.

Abrar was then taken to the house. Police were just entering his home after locking it off when the Pakistani terrorist hiding on the premises opened fire on the team.

In the first round of shooting, three CRPF employees were injured and Abrar, who was accompanying the search party, was also injured, the spokesman said.

“In the subsequent shots, the foreign terrorist who shot from inside the house was neutralized and Abrar was also killed. Two AK-47 rifles along with ammunition were recovered from the site,” he added.

The spokesman said Abrar was involved in the killing of several security forces.
