At 53,256, India reports lowest daily Covid cases in nearly 3 months


India recorded 53,256 new Covid-19 cases in a 24-hour period on Monday. This is the lowest daily case number the nation has reported in 88 days.

The five states that recorded maximum cases in those 25 hours are Kerala with 11,647 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 9,361 cases, Tamil Nadu with 7,817 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 5,646 cases, and Karnataka with 4,517 cases. More than 70 percent of the new cases were reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 21.87 percent of the new cases.

The daily positivity rate is 3.83 percent, which means India’s daily positivity rate was below 5 percent for 14 consecutive days. The weekly positivity rate has also remained below 5 percent at 3.32 percent.

India’s active case number has currently declined by 26,356 to 2/7,887.

In the past 24 hours, India reported 1,422 Covid deaths. Most of the casualties were reported in Maharashtra (605), followed by Tamil Nadu (182).

Daily recoveries in the country continued to surpass daily cases for the 39th straight day. 78,190 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. The recycling rate has risen to 96.36 percent. Cumulative recoveries across India now amount to 2.88.44.199, according to government figures.

As for the vaccination campaign, more than 28 million Covid vaccine doses have been administered in India to date. In the past 24 hours, 30.39.996 doses were administered.
