With the monsoons session of Parliament slated to begin on July 19, strict Covid-19 standards will be put in place to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus during the process.

Sources told India Today that all Covid-related protocols will be followed during the monsoons session within the Parliament complex and it is hoped that all participants in the trial have taken at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

A parliamentary official said over 400 Lok Sabha members had been vaccinated against the coronavirus by June 19.

The actual numbers could be higher since most MPs in their respective states have taken vaccines, the official said.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat also offers vaccination options for journalists reporting on Lok Sabha.

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) had recommended a monsoon session of parliament from July 19 to August 13 on Tuesday. Parliamentary Minister Pralhad Joshi had said earlier this month that the government hopes the monsoon session will begin in July on its normal schedule.

The monsoon session usually starts the third week of July and ends before August 15th.

During the household meeting earlier this year, Rajya Sabha worked from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and sometimes until 2:00 p.m., Lok Sabha started at 4:00 p.m. This was done to ensure distance norms as part of Covid-compatible behavior.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, all three sessions of parliament have had to be canceled due to the increasing number of Covid-19 cases.
