The Assam IMA unit is writing to the police asking for action

The Assam State branch of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has expressed deep fear of the incident of an attack on the doctor on duty.

In a letter to Deputy Commissioner Hojai, the Assam Medical Service Association (AMSA) alleged that the doctor was brutally attacked and tortured by relatives of the late Gisauddin, a Covid patient, around 2 p.m. The villains then damaged the hospital building and ransacked other vital tools required for care. “

The association urged him to take strict action on the matter, saying, “This type of incident demoralizes our service attitudes. They are enemies not only of doctors but of the community as a whole. We urge the culprits to be reported within 12 hours arrested and given severe punishment to prevent such incidents from happening in the future. “

AMSA has threatened to boycott all OPDs and subsequent other services if the “culprits are not arrested by 7 a.m. on June 2nd”.

“All hospitals should be equipped with security and cameras around the clock to avoid such incidents in the future,” it said.

IMA offers support

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) also condemned the attack on the assistant doctor.

“Attacking doctors even at this crucial moment in the pandemic is barbaric. We ask the Assam government to book these merciless perpetrators immediately,” the IMA said in a statement.

The IMA demanded that all hospitals be declared safe zones and requested enforcement of the strict law protecting central hospitals.
