England will struggle to beat India at home unless the batting improves, says Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan said England made a number of tactical mistakes and missed their best players due to their rotation policy since they beat England in the first Test in Chennai.

Vaughan said England got their tactics wrong in India and in the home series against New Zealand.

England will struggle to beat India in the upcoming Test series unless their batsmen improve significantly, former captain Michael Vaughan said. Vaughan said a combination of poor tactics and their rotation policy misled England’s testing team after getting a good set of results.

“They beat Sri Lanka 2-0, beat Pakistan, West Indies and South Africa last year. They went to India, won the first Test with flying colors, Joe Root earned a double century. Three days later they started rotating and off I don’t think they managed to catch the team. Tactically they got it completely wrong. You’re going back to that day-night test in India, it was played on a beach and England left with four Sailors and a weirdo, ”Vaughan said on the Road to the Ashes podcast.

Vaughan pointed out that in their most recent series against New Zealand, England haven’t played a weirdo in both friendlies despite the dry conditions. While the first test was drawn at Lord’s, New Zealand won the second match at Edgbaston, winning the series 1-0.

“You know that series against New Zealand, it was dry for a week that led to this first test at Lords (and England) that didn’t play a spinner. Exactly the same in Edgbaston, didn’t play a spinner. And the lineup is fragile , it’s that simple, “said Vaughan.

England had to do without test stars like Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler in the series against New Zealand. While they will be returning for the series against India, Vaughan said there have been changes in the batting line-up for England to get high scores.

“Buttler, Stokes and Woakes have returned. Yes, they will make the team better, but unless the lineup changes and learn and understand how to get high scores against good bowling rather than standard second row bowling, i just can’t see how they can keep up. it will be hard for england to beat india on these shores but then go to australia and they have to get 450-500 i just can’t imagine that unless it is they’re making a change or two, “added Vaughan.

The five-match test series begins on August 4th with the first test being held at Trent Bridge.
