And there was no goodwill gesture from Ukraine as they knocked out Sweden after 120 action-packed minutes in Glasgow.

Artem Dovbyk scored in stoppage time at the end of extra time when Ukraine overtook Sweden 2-1.

There was a lot of quality as both sides battled for victory in the 90 minutes of regular time. Oleksandr Zinchenko gave Ukraine the lead with a half-volley with his left foot in the 27th minute, but Emil Forsberg equalized two minutes before the break after a deflected shot from the edge of the box.

Danielson’s red card swings the game in Ukraine’s favor Ukraine

Forsberg, who scored 4 goals at Euro 2020, could have added more if he hadn’t hit the wood twice before the whistle.

The two sides were even 1-1 after 90 minutes, but the tide changed in the round of 16 when Sweden sent defender Marcus Danielson to a big challenge for a big challenge nine minutes into extra time. Danielson’s dismissal changed the way Sweden played as they made three changes just before the red card was handed over after a VAR check.

It looked like Ukraine were wasting an extra man’s advantage as they couldn’t create clear chances, but Artem Dovbyk scored the deciding goal after a great cross from Zinchenko.
