Hundreds of people were seen disregarding Covid-19 norms as they gathered on the banks of the Ganges in Haridwar, Uttarkhand for the Ganga Dussehra on Sunday. Similar scenes were observed in the city of Farrukhabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Covid-19 logs were blatantly violated when supporters without face masks jostled to take a bath at the Panchal ghat in Farrukhabad, as seen in the following pictures:

“There is a huge crowd for Ganga snaan, but the people are careless,” says Gaurav, a devotee who has come to bathe in the sacred river.

“Nobody here follows the Covid guidelines. I am vigilant and I keep my face mask on. I would like to appeal to the people who come here to take a bath, follow the Covid guidelines, wear a mask and keep social distance. The coronavirus hasn’t gone away, “said Gaurav.

Meanwhile in Haridwar, devotees bathed in the Har Ki Pauri Ghat to observe Ganga Dussehra. Here, too, one could see people failing to take proper precautions; They did not maintain social distancing on the ghat and waded into the river without masks.
