In order to support India’s mass vaccination program, the airline IndiGo introduced a special discount on IndiGo flights for vaccinated customers from Wednesday.

According to a statement released on Wednesday by India’s leading airline, “Customers who have received either or both Covid-19 vaccine doses can enjoy discounts of up to 10 percent off the base rate when booking.”

With this initiative, IndiGo was the first airline to introduce this service in India.

The IndiGo announcement comes two days after the central government launched the “Free Vaccination for All” campaign for all citizens. On the first day of the revised vaccination guidelines, over 88 doses of lakh were administered.

“The greatest beneficiaries of this phase of India’s vaccination campaign will be the poor, the middle class and the youth in the country. We should all pledge to get vaccinated. Together we will defeat Covid-19,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Monday.

PM Modi had previously appealed to people to get vaccinated to step up the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, AirAsia India had operated nine flights with a fully vaccinated crew, including cabin crew and pilots. The airline runs free vaccination campaigns for all of its employees and their families.
