Jharkhand extends lockdown-like restrictions till June 17

The Jharkhand government on Wednesday extended Covid-related lockdown-like restrictions through June 17 with some eases, including extending store hours across the state to two hours to 4 p.m., an official said.

Interstate and domestic bus transport, with the exception of buses specifically used by the district administration, is prohibited until June 17th in the morning according to the notice.

Earlier, an official said the restrictions would last until June 16, but the government notice said the curbs would last until June 17.

E-passports are required for travel between states and counties in private vehicles, but e-passports are not required to move within the county.

But religious places remain closed to believers as they used to be, as do educational institutions.

This is the fifth time the curbs, which were first imposed for a week in the state on April 22, have been extended.

Current operations should end on June 10th.

The decision was made at a meeting of the state civil protection agency chaired by Prime Minister Hemant Soren.

“The week of health protection has now been extended to June 17th. There have been some easings, including the opening of shops in all 24 districts from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” the order said.

A tweet from the prime minister said that in Jamshedpur, with more cases, stores selling shoes, clothing, cosmetics and jewelry will remain closed during the period.

However, all stores in the state, including stores selling fruit, vegetables, groceries, candy, and edibles, will remain closed from 4:00 p.m. Saturday to 6:00 p.m. Monday, with the exception of drug stores, hospitals, and gas pumps, etc.

The government has allowed all government and private offices to be open until 4 p.m. with a third of human resources.

The delivery of food from restaurants to the home and to take away was allowed. The order states that shopping centers, movie theaters, clubs, bars, banquet halls, multiplexes and department stores will remain closed. At the same time, in addition to all educational institutions, stadiums, gyms, swimming pools and parks will remain closed.

The government said the Anganwadi centers will remain closed, but food will be provided to beneficiaries at home.

“There will be a ban on gathering more than five people. A maximum of 11 people can attend a wedding and a maximum of 20 people can attend a funeral. Religious sites remain closed to believers,” said a statement by the state government.

The procession ban will continue in the country, the bus traffic ban will continue.

All state examinations will be postponed during the trade fair and exhibition ban.

The government said e-passports will be mandatory for travel between counties in private vehicles or for travel from Jharkhand to other states or to Jharkhand. “With a few exceptions, a seven-day home quarantine is mandatory for those coming to Jharkhand from other states,” it said.

“Wearing a mask in public places and maintaining social distance are mandatory,” the statement said, adding that in the event of a violation of the order, action will be taken by registering an FIR in accordance with the relevant section of the Civil Protection Act.
