MCC Chief Shilpa Nag resigns citing harassment, deputy commissioner refutes allegations

Mysore Corporation Commissioner Shilpa Nag has resigned and sent her resignation letter to the Chief Secretary citing suffocating working conditions, accusing Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri of the same.

Meanwhile, the chief secretary’s office announced that they had not received a resignation letter by Thursday evening. Shilpa alleged “humiliation” from Rohini Sindhuri. “It was suffocating to work with the DC in Mysuru. I’m going to resign today and send a letter to the chief secretary. It’s also humiliating, I’m running out of patience,” Shilpa said.

Mysore Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri issued a press release clarifying the allegations.

In a point-by-point refutation, she said:

1. It is not true that there was any harassment from me, and even in Smt Shilpa Nag’s statement there was no mention.

2. The undersigned is Deputy Commissioner and, in the midst of dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, has a duty to administer and control Covid-19.

3. In fact, Shilpi Nag had recently stopped participating in Covid-19 reviews by the undersigned. Mysuru City Corporation submitted unsigned and conflicting Covid-19 numbers on new cases, deaths and active cases. I had the same touched up.

“I have ordered state Covid Care Centers to open in Mysuru City that have not opened a single CCC until recently (Taluks and rural areas have opened 18 CCCs in the last 20 days). 3 CCCs in town recently. None of this is a bother to your imagination, “she added.

4 Shilpa Nag, IAS, became responsible for the entire district for CSR of private companies, factories and IT companies. I was later told that she spent most of the time in Mysuru City. I therefore asked for a complete and proper billing on June 1, 2021. No response has yet been received. Also, their action to give taluks and rural areas almost nothing is unfair and wrong. Smt Shilpa Nag’s, IAS, CSR expenditure accounts are still awaited.

5. Everyone should note that Shilpa has made statements against the district administration to the press and media in the past ten days. Behavior that was not expected from the Mysuru city commissioner.

6. The generalized allegations are false and contradict the factual facts above. Coincidentally, Chief Secretary Ravi Kumar and the responsible Minister of the Mysore District, ST Somashekar, visit Mysuru for review meetings on Covid and other issues.
