Pashupati Kumar Paras, brother of the late LJP founder Ram Vilas Paswan, was elected national party president without a dissenting vote on Thursday.

Pashupati Paras was previously recognized as chairman of the Lok Janshakti Party in Lok Sabha in place of Paswan’s son Chirag.

Five of the six LJP MPs met with Lok Sabha spokesman Om Birla on Sunday and wrote to ask him to appoint Paras as their leader instead of Chirag.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat published a revised list of group leaders in a statement on Monday listing Paras as the leader of the Lok Janshakti party.
