- Shakib Al Hasan was also fined 5 lakh BDT for the same incident
- Shakib Al Hasan misbehaved several times with the referee during a DPL 2021 game
Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been suspended for 3 games along with a Bangladeshi Taka 5 Lacs fine for his level 3 offense during the Mohammedan v Abahani game in the Dhaka Premier League.
Shakib was caught on camera kicking the stumps, knocking off the bail and arguing aggressively with the referee on the field a few times after some decisions were ruled out against him during the DPL game between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited.
Mohammedan skipper Shakib was initially angry at the referee’s decision to deny him an appeal against Mushfiqur Rahim and then upset at the referee’s decision to take the players off the field with one ball left in the sixth round when it was raining.
“We haven’t received an official letter yet, but we have heard that the Referees Committee has recommended a four-game suspension,” Masuduzzaman told Cricbuzz on Saturday.
“We will appeal to the board of directors to ask them to investigate the matter and see why Shakib was asked to take such a step. That was of course not acceptable, but at the same time we have to find out why it happened, ”he said.
Shakib, who was banned from the sport for 2 years (one year suspended) by the ICC for failing to report corrupt attempts during the 2018 IPL, apologized for the latest controversy he was courting.
