Skoda Kushaq production starts in India, launch by June-end


Production of the Skoda Kushaq began in India with the first unit of the upcoming mid-size SUV, which is launched today from the SAVWIPL (Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd) plant in Chakan, Pune. While the Kushaq will launch in the country in late June 2021, shipments will begin in July 2021.

The Skoda Kushaq is based on the India-specific MQB-A0-IN variant of the MQB-A0 platform of the Volkswagen Group and will come with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier and the soon-to-be-launched Volkswagen Taigun. We expect them Skoda Kushaq Prize in India between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (ex showroom).

The Skoda Kushaq has the characteristic Skoda radiator grille with several vertical slats and chrome surrounds. The grille is flanked by split crystalline LED headlights with LED daytime running lights. The mid-range SUV gets 17-inch alloy wheels in a two-tone look. The taillights are LED units. Features such as roof rails and spoilers are also available. There are five exterior color options – Honey Orange, Tornado Red, Carbon Steel, Reflex Silver and Candy White.

The outstanding features The cabin of the Skoda Kushaq has a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Climatronic automatic air conditioning, ventilated front seats, wireless charging and an ambient lighting system. The midsize SUV claims to have the best wheelbase in its class at 2,651 mm. Its trunk has a volume of 385 liters.

The Skoda Kushaq has a few locally made TSI (Turbocharged Stratified Injection) engine options. There is a 3-cylinder 1.0-liter TSI petrol engine (115 hp maximum power and 175 Nm maximum torque) with 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT torque converter options, as well as a 4-cylinder 1, 5-liter TSI petrol mill (150 hp maximum power and 250 Nm maximum torque) with 6-speed MT and 7-speed DSG automatic options.
