Strong winds, rain damage tents of farmers protesting at Delhi borders

The sudden change in weather conditions on Friday about the suffering of the farmers who have been protesting on the borders of Delhi for over six months.

Rain, accompanied by strong winds, lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Friday evening. The IMD had announced on Friday that Delhi-NCR will experience a thunderstorm with light to moderate rain with wind speeds of 40-60 km / h in the evening.

The farmer leader Gurmeet Mehma said that around 100 tents were affected and damaged by the strong wind and rain.

“Around 100 tents were affected and damaged by the strong winds and rains. The demonstrators will spend the night in wagons and the tents will be set up tomorrow morning,” PTI’s peasant leader Gurmeet Mehma is quoted as saying.

“It happens every time we face such a situation,” he added.

According to official data, tree uprooting has been reported from 42 locations in North Delhi and 11 locations in South Delhi.

A senior police officer said: “In the capital of the country, several cases of falling trees were reported on Friday evening after strong winds and rain. The city authorities were informed and the streets were later cleared for traffic.”
