Sushil Kumar a threat to witnesses and victims of Sagar Rana murder case: Delhi Police tells court


The Delhi Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Department told the court that depraved wrestler Sushil Kumar may use his money and power to harm the remaining victims / witnesses in the Sagar Rana murder.

Delhi police told Rohini Court on Monday that Sushil Kumar and his staff may cause harm to victims and witnesses after 4 sought protection. Sushil Kumar and his colleague Ajay were sentenced to 14 days in prison last week in connection with the Sagar Rana murder.

The criminal police have filed an application with the court and applied for the protection of witnesses and victims by expressing the danger to their lives.

Police told the court that the defendant Sushil Kumar involved in the murder is an international wrestler, has money and is an influential person, so he can use his powers to harm the remaining victims and witnesses in the case. The Crime Branch also informed the court that this case was very sensitive and was being dealt with extensively in the media.

In court it became known that 4 of Sushil’s employees arrested in this case have criminal records, are residents of Haryana and members of dangerous gangs active in Delhi NCR.

On the night of the incident with Sagar and Sonu, Sushil had 3 other accomplices who are both witnesses and victims in this case.

One of these witnesses / victims, out of fear, filed a petition for himself and his family with the Delhi Supreme Court asking for protection. The High Court has also asked agencies to provide security as part of the 2018 witness protection program.

Interestingly, Sushil Kumar was also reinforced in Tihar prison after the two-time Olympic champion was threatened with life-threatening threats by gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra.

In view of the threats to Sushil’s life, Bishnoi was transferred to the high-security section of Tihar Prison No. 1. Nehra was also transferred from Mandoli Prison to Tihar Prison.

CCTV cameras are used and paramilitary forces guard the 38-year-old’s station around the clock.

Sushil and his staff were accused of kidnapping and killing Sagar from his home in Model Town during a brawl at Chattrasal Stadium in Delhi on the night of May 4th.

Sushil Kumar is India’s most decorated wrestler with 2 Olympic medals, 3 Commonwealth Games gold medals, 1 World Championship gold, 1 Asian Games bronze and 4 Asian Championship medals.
