Thieves break wall to enter bank in Delhi, steal Rs 55 lakh


On Sunday night, a group of men broke into a building under construction next to a bank in northeast Delhi. They broke a wall, entered the bank and stole Rs 55 lakh.

A group of men broke into a building under construction near a bank in the Farsh Bazar area of ​​northeast Delhi near Shahdara on Sunday evening. Then they broke through a wall to get into the bank and stole Rs 55 lakh. The thieves opened the bank’s safe with a gas cutter.

On Monday morning, the bank employees found the safe cut open and there was no cash. According to bank officials, at least Rs 55 lakh deposited on Friday and Saturday were gone. The bank was closed on Sunday, so police believe the robbery took place on Sunday night.

The defendants have not yet been identified and traced.

During the investigation, the police found that the security cameras in the bank were switched off. “The defendant turned off the digital video recorder shortly after entering the bank,” a senior police officer is quoted as saying in the Times of India.

Police are searching CCTV footage of nearby areas and roads leading to the bank in search of suspicious movements or vehicles belonging to the defendant.

According to Deputy Police Commissioner (Shahdara) R. Sathiyasundaram, one case has been recorded under the relevant sections and efforts are being made to identify, track down and arrest the suspects. Several teams were formed for this.

Police are investigating bank employees to see if any insiders were involved. The security guard who was on duty at the time of the incident will also be questioned.
