Uttar Pradesh Law Commission chairman Aditya Nath Mittal said Sunday that the growing population should be controlled as it creates problems in the state.

Mittal said those who contribute and contribute to population control in the state should continue to benefit from state resources and facilities. He also made it clear that population control is different from family planning and does not violate any particular religion or human rights.

The statement of the chairman of the legal commission comes one day after the prime minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma announced his government’s proposed population control policy. However, the UP government has not issued any official endorsement for a similarly worded law.

On Saturday, Sarma said his government would gradually implement a two-child policy to access benefits under certain government-funded schemes.

“Be it a loan waiver or some other government program, we will slowly implement a population policy for these programs. The population norms do not apply to tea gardens, SC, ST communities, but will in future be imposed on all others who use the services of the government, as the population policy in Assam has already started, ”said CM Sarma at a press conference.
