Regarding vaccines, the Prime Minister said, “Compared to the global demand for vaccines, the number of countries and companies that manufacture vaccines is very small today.”
He added, “Imagine if he didn’t have Indian-made vaccines or manufacturing capabilities in the country, what would have happened to a huge country like us. If you look back 50-60 years, it took India decades to source vaccines from the rest of the world. When the whole world is done vaccinating, we wouldn’t even start the process in the nation. “
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech comes at a time when the country had the lowest coronavirus cases in two months, with 1 lakh fresh cases. The daily Covid-19 death toll has also fallen, while the number of active cases in the country has dropped to 14 lakh.

“When our scientists were researching vaccines, we had already started preparing for the logistics. The vaccine task force was formed last year when there were very few cases. In the coming days, the range of vaccines will increase. There are currently seven companies in the country producing vaccines. Three other vaccine studies are at an advanced stage. The process of sourcing vaccines from abroad has been accelerated. “
