India registered 84,332 new cases and 4,002 deaths in the past 24 hours on Saturday. That’s the lowest number of daily cases the country has reported in the past 70 days, according to data from the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
The total number of cases in the country rose to 293,59,155 while the death toll rose to 3,67,081.
The five states that recorded the highest cases are Tamil Nadu with 15,759 cases, followed by Kerala with 14,233 cases, Maharashtra with 11,766 cases, Karnataka with 8,249 cases, and Andhra Pradesh with 8,239 cases.
69.07 percent of the new cases were reported from these five states, with Tamil Nadu alone responsible for 18.69 percent.
Most deaths were reported in Maharashtra (2,619), followed by Tamil Nadu with 378 daily deaths.

India’s recovery rate has risen to 95.07 percent. In the past 24 hours, a total of 1,21,311 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,79.11,384 across the country. For the 30th straight day, recoveries continued to exceed the number of new daily cases.
India’s active case number has dropped to 10.80,690. Active cases decreased by 40,981 in the past 24 hours.

Currently, India’s weekly positivity rate has dropped to below 5 percent at 4.94 percent. The daily positivity rate is 4.39 percent and stays below 10 percent for 19 consecutive days.
India has also significantly increased its testing capacity. A total of 19,20,477 samples were tested in the past 24 hours for a total of 37.62 crore.
Meanwhile, a total of 34,33,763 vaccine doses have been administered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of vaccinations administered to 24,96,00,304.
