Legendary actor Dilip Kumar died early Wednesday after a long and long illness. He was 98.
Dilip Kumar took his last breath at 7:30 am at the Khar Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai. He leaves behind his wife, Saira Banu, an experienced actress herself.
Dilip Kumar was hospitalized twice in June. He was hospitalized on June 6th when he complained of breathing problems. After diagnosis of bilateral pleural effusion and proper treatment, Dilip Kumar was discharged on June 11th.
However, on June 30, he developed similar breathing problems and was hospitalized again.
The legendary actor played prominent roles in several classic Hindi films during the 1950s and 1960s. Some of these films are Mughal-E-Azam, Devdas, Naya Daur, Ganga Jumna, Ram aur Shyam and others.
Dilip Kumar was honored with Padma Bhushan in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
