AIIMS doctors get into drunken brawl with shopkeepers in Delhi, 4 injured


Four people, including two doctors who work at AIIMS Delhi, were injured in a scuffle in Gautam Nagar in south Delhi, the police said on Thursday.

Four people, including two doctors who work at AIIMS Delhi, were injured in a scuffle in Gautam Nagar in south Delhi, the police said on Thursday. The incident happened on Wednesday.

According to police, some doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) went to Bhagat Singh Verma Paranthe Walla’s store in Gautam Nagar and allegedly consumed alcohol there.

“There was a heated argument between the doctors and the shopkeeper in which both sides allegedly attacked each other,” said Atul Kumar Thakur, Deputy Police Commissioner (South).

Two doctors and shopkeepers Bhagat Singh Verma and his son Abhishek were injured in the incident, police said.

The statements of both parties will be recorded and legal steps will be initiated accordingly, announced the DCP. Police said the doctors had visited the store earlier. Further details are awaited.
