Assam has rejected terrorism and is moving towards development: Amit Shah


Union Interior Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that the formation of the BJP government for the second time in Assam meant the state’s population consistently opposed hate speech and terrorism and moved in the direction of development.

“For the second time in Assam, the BJP government was formed under its own steam and that means that Assam has forever rejected agitation, terrorism and weapons and decided to go the path of development,” said Amit Shah while also praising Sarbananda Sonowal and Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for her efforts to bring the BJP to power in the state.

Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for Tamulpur Medical College & Hospital and distributed financial support to 100 selected beneficiaries as part of “Prarthana Achoni” in the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati accepted the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“For the first time since independence, five Northeast ministers were elected to the Union cabinet. This has shown that the northeast is on the priorities of the BJP and Prime Minister Modi. We want to increase North East’s contribution to development. PM Modi started the path of new development in the northeast. He has visited the region 35 times in seven years. No other prime minister has traveled to this region as often, ”he said.

Amit Shah mentioned the Bodo Agreement, which was signed last January, claiming that the Union government has already met 90 percent of the terms of the agreement.

“More than 2,100 cadres from various militant groups in the Northeast have given up their weapons under several agreements signed by the Modi government. The people of Assam no longer have to protest for development, they just have to provide support, ”he said.

The Union Minister went on to say that the BJP wishes to protect and preserve the Assam and Northeast language and its heritage, ecology and culture.

“The BJP believes languages, dialects, cuisines and other such features are the jewels of India and we need to preserve them,” said Shah.

Previously, the Minister of the Interior inaugurated the Radio Threpay Block and dedicated the new LINAC machine at the State Cancer Institute in Guwahati to people. He also visited the Kamakhya Temple in the city.
