Several cars were washed away and buildings were damaged after flash floods caused by a downpour that struck Bhagsu Nag near Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh on Monday.

Flash floods caused by heavy rains damaged several buildings and washed away cars in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala on Monday.

Himachal Pradesh experienced heavy rain on Sunday night. As a result, the region witnessed flash floods on Monday. Because of the flash floods, roads in Dharamshala and neighboring areas were flooded.

A drain near Bhagsu Nag in upper Dharamsala, bordering Mecleodganj, changed course due to heavy rainfall and swept four cars and several bicycles with it, video clips showed.

Union Interior Minister Amit Shah spoke to Himachal Pradesh Prime Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday to take stock of the situation and assure him of all possible help from the center.

CM Jai Ram Thakur has instructed the administrations of various districts to ensure rapid relief and rescue operations in the affected areas. He also urged locals and tourists not to go near the river banks to avoid unwanted incidents.
