The Union Health Ministry on Friday expressed concern about the rise in Covid-19 cases in several districts in India and warned that children could also be susceptible to the infection.

During a press conference on the Covid-19 situation in the country, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health Lav Agarwal stressed the need for adequate planning to protect children from contracting the virus.

Regarding districts in India that are still reporting a case positivity rate of more than 10 percent, the Ministry of Health warned that the pandemic is far from over.

The Ministry of Health has the Decline in the use of masks as the lockdown process weakened and people resumed their activities. Lav Agarwal suggested that masks be integrated into our lives as the “new normal”.

Lav Agarwal said the second wave was still not over and urged people to watch for Covid-appropriate behavior. He also called on state governments to modernize health infrastructure to prepare for a possible third wave of the coronavirus.

PM HOLDS MEET WITH CMs

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting on Friday with the Prime Ministers of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Odisha, Maharashtra and Kerala on the Covid-19 situation in these states.

The Prime Minister pointed out that around 80 percent of the new cases reported from the above six states in the past few days. He urged state governments to take proactive measures to stop a possible third wave of the pandemic.

PM Modi urged states to focus on the “Test-Track-Treat-Vaccinate” approach to keep the Covid-19 situation in check.
