Elon Musk congratulates Isro for successful 3rd test on Vikas Engine

Elon Musk congratulated the Indian Space Research Organization (Isro) on Wednesday for successfully completing the third long-term hot test with the Vikas engine, which would start the ambitious Gaganyaan program.

Musk, the founder of space giant SpaceX, commented on ISRO’s tweet with “Congratulations”.

ISRO has the liquid fuel Vikas. tested Engine as part of the engine qualification requirements for the Gaganyaan program. The test was conducted on the liquid L110 core stage of the human-rated GSLV MkIII vehicle, Isro said in a statement.

The engine was ignited at the test facility of the Isro Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu, for 240 seconds.

According to an official statement from ISRO, the engine’s performance met the test objectives and the parameters exactly matched the predictions throughout the test period.

Four Indian astronaut candidates have already completed general space training in Russia as part of the Gaganyaan program.

The formal announcement of the Gaganyaan program was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech on August 15, 2018.
