An object in flight was discovered near Birpur in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday at around 8:35 p.m. After an initial search, however, nothing was found.

This development comes after the drone attack on the Indian Air Force (IAF) base at Jammu Airport last week. Several drones were observed in Jammu over the next few days.

However, the samba police have denied that the flying object seen on Saturday was a drone.

Drones hover over Jammu

After two explosions five minutes apart struck IAF Jammu station on June 27, drones were spotted in the city five times. The last one was on Friday around 4:25 a.m. near the international border in the Arnia sector of Jammu.

One day after the attack on the IAF, two drones were found hovering over the Kaluchak military station on the night of June 27-28. The highest level of alert was then raised in the Jammu area, particularly in army stations.

Later on June 29, drones were spotted in three different locations in Jammu – Kunjwani, Sunjwan, and Kaluchak – around 2:30 a.m.

The next day, drones were spotted again. This time in the Miran Sahib, Kaluchak and Kunjwani areas of Jammu.

In response to the drone threat, security agencies in Jammu installed an anti-drone system on the air force station.
