Govt rejigs Cabinet Committees, Smriti Irani, Sonowal in political affairs panel with PM Modi


The center has reorganized the cabinet committees with Smriti Irani and Sarbananda Sonowal added to the political affairs committee.

Weeks after the union’s cabinet reshuffle, the government has now made changes to the cabinet committees, with Smriti Irani and Sarbananda Sonowal added to the political affairs committee.

Minister for Women’s and Child Development, Smriti Irani, Environment and Labor Minister Bhupender Yadav and Port Minister Sarbananda Sonowal are now on the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Union Ministers Virendra Kumar, Kiren Rijiju and Anurag Thakur are the new members of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

Ministers Narayan Rane, Jyotiraditya Scindia and Ashwini Vaishnaw now sit on the Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Bhupender Yadav, RCP Singh and G Kishan Reddy were inducted into the Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skills Development.

Environment and Labor Minister Bhupender Yadav was inducted into the important Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) along with Port Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh.

The members of the Cabinet Security Committee are the Prime Minister, Defense Minister, Interior Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.

The Cabinet’s two-person nomination committee consists of Prime Minister Modi and Interior Minister Amit Shah.
