A woman in Gujarat’s Dahod was brought up naked by her husband and villagers over an alleged extramarital affair. The woman’s husband and 18 other villagers were arrested by police.

Police in Gujarat’s Dahod district on Wednesday arrested a man for stripping his wife and showing her naked as a punishment for allegedly running away with another man. At least 18 other people were arrested for helping the husband, police said.
According to a report by the PTI news agency, the incident occurred on July 6 in the tribal-dominated Taluka Dhanpur in Dahod district. The incident became known after the video of the alleged incident went viral.
In the viral video, the woman’s husband is seen along with other villagers, who were mostly his relatives, dragging, beating and undressing his wife in public, police said. As a punishment, the victim was also forced to carry her husband on his shoulders and walk, they added.
“The victim ran away with another man recently. Her husband and other villagers quickly located the duo and brought them to the village. On July 6th, she was traumatized as punishment in full public view. We have arrested all of the defendants seen in the video . ” “, PTI quoted a police officer.
Police said the defendants were arrested for rioting, assault, criminal intimidation and abusive modesty of a woman under the IPC and the relevant provisions of the IT Act for the making and distribution of the video.
