Heavy lightning claims 19 lives in Rajasthan; 7 children among killed


19 died from severe lightning strikes in Rajasthan on Sunday. Among those who died were seven children from Kota District and Badi in Dholpur District.

19 died in Rajasthan, including seven children, from severe lightning on Sunday. Of the children who died, four were from Kota District, while three others died in Badi, Dholpur District.

The remaining deaths were reported from Amer on the outskirts of Jaipur. People had gathered at the Amer Fort watchtower to enjoy the pleasant weather of the day when heavy lightning struck on Sunday evening.

17 people were also injured. They were rescued by joint police and SDRF teams. They were taken to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur.

The government of Rajasthan has directed the relevant authorities to offer all kinds of assistance to the families of the deceased and injured. District collector Antar Singh reached Amer Fort to investigate the situation.

Rajasthan’s Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced compensation of 4 lakh rupees each for the family members of those who died from lightning strikes.

“The death of four in the village of Kanwas (Kota) and three children in the village of Kudeena, Badi (Dholpur) as a result of the fall of the sky lightning is extremely heartbreaking. My deepest condolences to the relatives of the children, may God give them strength in this sad time. Pray for a speedy recovery of the injured children, ”said Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister, Rajasthan.

The CM of Rajasthan has convened an emergency meeting with the state’s disaster management team to fully capture the accidents caused by the lightning strike. The meeting starts on Monday at 12 noon.

The former CM Vasundhara Raje from Rajasthan also paid tribute to those who died on Sunday. She said: “I appeal to citizens not to panic in the event of natural disasters. Stay away from rumors. Listen to the advice of the administration and the weather department.”
