Mithali Raj reached an important milestone on Saturday when she overtook former English bully Charlotte Edwards’ record of 10,273 international cricket runs. The Indian captain already holds the record for most runs in women’s ODI cricket.

India’s ODI captian Mithali Raj has overtaken former English bully Charlotte Edwards to hold the world record for most runs in international women’s cricket. Raj, 38, overtook Edward’s record of 10,273 runs during the 3rd ODI between England Women and India in Worcester on Saturday.
It only took Mithali Raj 12 runs to beat the total of 10,273 runs and the India Skipper got there with a glorious drive for a limit. She is the only Indian female cricketer to have more than 10,000 runs in women’s international cricket.
Mithali Raj, who holds the record for most runs in the women’s ODIs, reached the key milestone when she led India’s chase of 220 in the ODI series finals.

Mithali Raj also holds the record for the most capped player in women’s cricket history. In 2020 she was elected to the ICC ODI Team of the Decade. The 38-year-old is the flag bearer of Indian women’s cricket. In 2017 she led the team to the final of the Women’s World Cup.
Mithali has been in good shape in the ongoing ODI series even though India hasn’t been able to get the right results. The senior batter had their strike rate issues but Mithali held the Indian batting team together. Having already hit 2 consecutive fifties in the series, Raj engages in a single fight in pursuit of 220.
The 2022 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand will be Mithali’s swan song and the 38-year-old has worked very hard to start the tournament in good shape.
