India’s wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant tested positive for coronavirus ahead of his five-game test run against England starting Aug. 4. Pant was at Wembley Stadium to watch England’s round of 16 against Germany on June 30th.

The Indian cricketer, who tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of his five-part test series against England, is wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant.

The test series against England is planned from August 4th.

Pant was at Wembley Stadium to watch England’s round of 16 match against Germany on June 30th.

According to the reports, Pant has no serious symptoms. He won’t travel to Durham, however, where the Indian team is scheduled to gather on Thursday to prepare for the three-day warm-up game against an XI County Championship team starting July 20th.

Indian cricketers took a 20-day hiatus after losing to New Zealand in the first final of the World Test Championship (WTC) at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. Players were spotted at Wimbledon and Euros during the break.

Jay Shah, secretary of BCCI, had warned cricketers not to go out as the Delta variant was widespread in the UK. In his letter, Jay Shah had also asked players not to go out because vaccinations do not provide immunity.

Last week before the first ODI against Pakistan, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed that seven team members, including three players and four staff, tested positive for Covid-19.

The development forced a revision of the English ODI roster, with Ben Stokes being appointed captain of the team.

In his statement, ECB chief Tom Harrison mentioned the Delta variant of the virus without revealing whether squad members were affected by biosafe environments that increase the likelihood of an outbreak. We made a strategic decision to try and adjust the protocols to support the overall wellbeing of our players and executives, who have spent much of the past 14 months in very constrained conditions, ”said Harrison.
