Three days after a A massive landslide hit a tourist vehicle near Bastia in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh and killed nine people, one of the two survivors posted a video on YouTube that was filmed just minutes after the accident.
In the video shared on the Wave Hikers YouTube channel, one of the survivors, Naveen, can be seen recounting his harrowing experiences after their vehicle fell into the landslide. He himself was injured in the head and was bleeding.
Naveen points to a hill of rubble and stones and says, “Our vehicle was only there 10 minutes ago. I sat in the seat next to the driver and somehow managed to get out. I got stuck on this rock and got my head injured.”
He adds that he then hid behind a large tree until the end of the landslide.
In the video, Naveen then points to a piece of forest on the steep slope of the mountain, where the second survivor, Shiril Oberoi, was stuck. “I’ll be there. Wait Take shelter behind a tree, ”he yells at him.
While he is recording the video and instructing Shiril to take shelter, stones and loose mud continue to fall from above.

Naveen said he repeatedly called the police for help and was finally able to connect with them.

Nine tourists were killed on Sunday after heavy boulders fell on their vehicle in a landslide near Basteri in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
Several landslides triggered by the recent rains occurred near Basteri on the Sangla-Chitkul road at 1:25 p.m., resulting in a bridge collapse and damage to some vehicles, police said.
A video of a bridge collapse in Basteri has gone viral on social media. The video showed boulders rolling downhill, causing the bridge to collapse.
Batseri Bridge near Sangla Chitkul Road in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur was destroyed by boulders in a landslide on Sunday.
Police said nine people died and two others were injured when heavy boulders fell on a fast-paced traveler.
The passengers wanted from Chitkul to Sangla.
According to the police, the deceased were tourists from different parts of the country. They have been identified as: Maya Devi Biyani (55), her son Anurag Biyani (31) and daughter Richa Biyani (25) from Rajasthan; Pratiksha Sunil Patil (27) from Maharashtra; Deepa Sharma (34) from Jaipur; Amogh Bapat (27), Satish Katakbar (34) from Chhattisgarh; Driver Umrab Singh (42) from West Bengal and Kumar Ulhas Vedpathak (37).
