Militants opened fire on the wife and daughter of a J&K police officer in the Kokagund Verinag area of ​​Anantnag district in southern Kashmir on Tuesday evening.

The victims, identified as Naidha Jan and Madhiya, suffered injuries in the attack and were hospitalized.

This attack by militants on the family of J&K Police Constable Sajad Ahmad Malik comes on the eve of Eid-ul-Adha.

Kashmiri police said: “Terrorists entered the home of police personnel Sajad Ah in Kokagund, Verinag, tonight and shot indiscriminately. His wife Nahida and daughter Mahida were gunshot wounds in the terrorist incident. Injured people moved to hospital. Area cordoned off. “

Kashmiri police added that one of the attackers was identified as Mufti Altaf, a terrorist from the banned terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed Mufti Altaf.

The J&K police officer stationed in Jammu was at his home during the incident, according to sources
