Modi govt reshuffle to focus on bringing in young faces, technocrats | Inside track

High-ranking sources have told India Today that the main thrust of the flow is Expansion and reshuffle exercise is intended to convey the message that the Modi government is a government of the poor, OBCs, Dalits and dispossessed people of the country.

Much emphasis has been placed on bringing highly qualified MBAs, PhD students, and postgraduates into central government.

To reinforce the central government’s administrative acumen, the prime minister has contacted key technocrats to include them in his council of ministers.

Particular attention has been paid to electoral Uttar Pradesh, with efforts being made to ensure that all major communities and regions are represented.

After this expansion there will be 25 OBC ministers in the central government, which is evidence of that Prime Minister’s request to represent himself to the smallest and most dispossessed communities.

The reshuffle will add some younger faces, which will lower the average age of the central government.

Sources have told India Today that there will be record levels of representation from the Dalit community.

Special efforts have been made to find faces with administrative experience in the States. Some former CMs are brought into the trade union cabinet, but also executives with many years of experience as ministers in state governments.

Compared to the present, the number of women in the cabinet will increase after this reshuffle.
