Only 50 passengers allowed per coach, no standing travel: DMRC

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced that despite new easings, only 50 passengers will be allowed to travel on a bus.

The Delhi Metro will only allow 50 passengers per bus from Monday, despite easing.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made it clear that only 50 passengers are allowed on a tour bus and no standing trips are allowed. The DMRC said, “Even with these revised guidelines, a maximum of 50 passengers per coach is allowed, up from 300 before Covid.”

DMRC has also appealed to the public to only travel on the subway when strictly necessary and to adhere to all Covid-related travel guidelines.

According to the latest order from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Saturday, Delhi Metro and DTC buses run with full seating capacity in the state capital from Monday 5 a.m.

On Saturday, Delhi recorded 66 new Covid cases and zero deaths in a 24-hour period. The last time Delhi had no Covid deaths in a 24-hour period was on July 18.

Regardless of the limits on the number of passengers it can carry, the DMRC runs a maximum of trains and makes over 5,100 journeys daily at the highest frequency available during the pre-Covid period, officials said on Sunday.

The DMRC has been running trains with 50 percent seat capacity since June 7th, when traffic was resumed after a long break. Since then, masses of passengers have been reported at various train stations, but the urban van claims that it is due to compliance with Covid standards.
