People can’t digest: PM Modi’s jibe as Opposition MPs disrupt his address on newly inducted ministers

On Monday’s first day of the Lok Sabha monsoon session, there was a pandemonium with opposition MPs preventing Prime Minister Narendra Modi from presenting the newly appointed Union Ministers to the House of Representatives.

Four newly elected members — Maddila Gurumoorthy (YSR Congress), Mangal Suresh Angadi (BJP), MP Abdussamad Samadani (IUML), Vijayakumar (Congress) — took the oath as the house after a break of nearly four Met for months.

Prime Minister Modi then stood up to introduce the newly admitted ministers who took their oath on July 7th following a major reorganization in the Council of Ministers. But as soon as he got up, opposition MPs began shouting slogans and disrupting the process.

“It seems that some people cannot digest more women, SC, ST, and OBC community members becoming ministers. It should make everyone proud that several women, several members of the SC and ST communities have taken an oath as ministers, children of farmers and also belong to OBC communities, “said Prime Minister Modi during his address in the Lok Sabha.

Modi appealed to the President to consider introducing ministers by submitting their list to the House of Representatives.

In response to the Prime Minister’s appeal, the spokesman announced that the House of Representatives had accepted the ministers’ introduction.

Since the disturbance continued despite repeated requests from the spokesman Om Birla to maintain decency, the house was adjourned after almost 40 minutes until 2 p.m.

“You were in power too. You shouldn’t belittle the dignity of the house. You are breaking a good tradition. This is the greatest democracy and you are setting a bad precedent. I appeal to you to preserve the dignity of the house,” Birla said to members of the opposition, who still did not give in.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh criticized the opposition for not allowing the Prime Minister to introduce the new ministers, saying that this was the first time in his 24-year parliamentary career.

“Parliament’s strength lies in maintaining healthy traditions. Both the opposition and the Treasury should maintain healthy traditions. Even if one or 50 new ministers are admitted, the whole House listens to their introduction by the prime minister with decency … That is sad, unfortunate and an unhealthy approach, “said Singh, who is also deputy leader of Lok Sabha.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi beat back the opposition in the Rajya Sabha: “It is a matter of pride that people from rural India who come from simple families have taken an oath as minister. But some people don’t want ministers to be introduced ”. They also have a misogynist attitude as they do not want female ministers to be introduced into the house. There has never been such a negative attitude in Parliament. “

Rajya Sabha also paid tribute to MPs and personalities who lost their lives this year, including veteran actor Dilip Kumar and veteran athlete Milkha Singh.
