BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday praised Goa Prime Minister Pramod Sawant and said he would be the party’s CM candidate in next year’s legislative assembly election. The BJP boss also dismissed the Pegasus spyware problem as “unfounded”.
JP Nadda is currently on a two day visit to Goa. Earlier in the day he said prayers at Lord Manguesh’s temple near Panaji. He was accompanied by Pramod Sawant, the President of the BJP Sadanand Shet Tanavade and the Minister of Art and Culture Govind Gaude.
Later at a press conference, JP Nadda said, “Goa CM Pramod Sawant did a very good job. Extensive development has taken place under his leadership. We will move forward with him (as the CM face in the 2022 election). . “
“At BJP, the parliamentary bureau makes the official statement, but there is no need to think about another name,” he added.
When he spoke about his party’s chances in the 2022 election, JP Nadda shared his optimism. “I have met cabinet ministers, MLAs, MPs and party officials at various levels and we have had extensive discussions,” he said.
“I’m very optimistic about the party. Goa BJP has made a big leap in the past 4.5 years,” added JP Nadda.
“Pegasus problem is unfounded”
Meanwhile, JP Nadda said Congress was having a “hassle-free” campaign when he spoke about the ongoing Snoopgate franchise on behalf of Pegasus.
“As for the Snoopgate, it’s unfounded and irrelevant. The congressional-led opposition has no human-related issue. That’s why they bring up such issues,” he said.
He also spoke about “a large number” of congressional leaders joining the BJP. “I had extensive discussions with them. They praised the work of BJP, which makes me more optimistic,” said the BJP boss.

JP Nadda says Karnataka CM
JP Nadda surprised on Sunday when he met the Karnatakas Prime Minister BS Yediyurappa Speculation about his exit due to pressure from the party high command.
“Yediyurappa is doing a good job in Karnataka. The government is doing a good job,” said JP Nadda, without asking questions about the change in leadership in Karnataka.
BS Yediyurappa provided tips earlier this week that he could resign after July 26th when his reign completed two years.
However, many news reports recently indicated that the BJP veteran could make a decision for himself by Sunday if he receives a message from the party’s central leadership.
