On a day when disgruntled Congress leader and former Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu met with party high command in Delhi, leaders of Punjab Prime Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s camp said they would not support Sidhu’s appointment as head of State Congress.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, who was in Delhi on Wednesday, met former congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at their place of residence. Sources in Congress have told India Today TV that the party likely to make an announcement about the future of Navjot Singh Sidhu Roll within 48 hours.
Sources close to Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said he could nod to add Navjot Singh Sidhu to his cabinet as deputy prime minister if the party’s high command so wishes. The leaders of the Punjab Congress vehemently opposed the prospect of electing Navjot Singh Sidhu as the new head of the Punjab Congress (PCC).
Captain Amarinder Singh’s camp leaders said Navjot Singh Sidhu joined Congress shortly before the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections. There are many high-ranking party leaders with decades of experience as grassroots workers in the party, they said.

However, Navjot Singh Sidhu had denied these statements, saying that Captain Amarinder Singh himself had lost three elections and got his own party on the way when he was appointed party leader.
Meanwhile, Punjab government spokesman and senior congressional leader Dr. Raj Kumar Verka told India Today that Captain Amarinder Singh is likely to meet with the party’s high command soon to make his point.
Dr. Verka said around 80 congressional MLAs appeared before the three-person congressional body and shared their point of view. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi also met some leading figures, including MLAs and MPs.
“Navjot Singh Sidhu is one of those who spoke to the Party’s high command. Now he’s met Priyanka Gandhi and maybe he will be able to meet Rahul Gandhi. Meeting Priyanka Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi or both is equally important. Captain Amarinder Singh will meet with central management shortly to discuss the matter, ”said Dr. Verka.
Dr. Verka said the party’s high command had already directed the state leadership to work together to resolve any issues. Without naming Navjot Singh Sidhu, Dr. Verka that some leaders attacked their own government, which amounted to indiscipline.
“I hope the stalemate ends peacefully. All congressmen will be under one platform and working together within a week. The decision of the party high command will be final and acceptable to all. Be it Captain Amrinder Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu, small or large, no one can dare to oppose the decision of the party high command, ”said Dr. Sales
