It appears that after a disappointing few days, Manu Bhaker cut out all the noise on her Olympic debut as the teenage shooter put in a strong performance in the precision round of the women’s 25 pistol qualifier at the Asaka shooting range on Thursday.
Manu Bhaker had a difficult opening week at the Tokyo Olympics as she suffered a gun circuit malfunction during her 10m air pistol qualifying round and a poor outcome during the 10m air pistol mixed team event.

But it seems that Manu was able to put the disappointment behind him and focus on the job at hand in her third event at the Tokyo Olympics. Manu took an impressive 5th place in the 44-woman field of the precision round of the 25-meter pistol for women.
Manu Bhaker shot 592 with 9 inner 10s. She opened with a 97 and made another 97 before finishing strong with a 98.

On the other hand, Rahi Sarnobat, number 2 in the world, had a disappointing foray into the Precision Round and only managed 987 in 3 series. She started well but dropped out after only 94 in her third streak. Rahi finished the Precision Round in 25th place.

Both Manu and Rahi will be in action in the rapid round of the 25th women’s pistol qualification on Friday morning. Each shooter has 3 series of 10 shots each. And the top 8 after both the Precision and Rapid rounds form the final, which will be played on Friday afternoon.
