For the past three days, the Pune and Konkan divisions have in Maharashtra has experienced torrential rains which caused landslides and floods in some areas. The number of rain-related incidents in the state has risen to 112, while 99 people are still missing on Saturday night, according to a state government press release.
The state and the central government have announced financial support for the relatives of the deceased. The National Disaster Response Force has now deployed its teams to rescue operations in Maharashtra.
Here are all the top developments so far.
112 DEAD, 53 INJURED, 99 MISSING
A total of 112 people have been killed and at least 53 people injured in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra to date. From the dead 52 were reported in the Raigad district alone from July 21st to 24th.
Ratnagiri district reported 21 deaths from rainfall in the past three days, followed by Satara (13), Thane (12), Kolhapur (7), Mumbai (4), Sindhudurg (2) and Pune (1).
There are now 99 people missing in these areas, including 53 in Raigad, 27 in Satara, 14 in Ratnagiri, three in Thane and one each in Sindhudurg and Kolhapur.
The rains also killed more than 3,000 cattle, most of them in the Satara district.
1.35 LAKH PEOPLE evacuated
Up to 1.35.313 People have been displaced from the flood-affected areas to safer places. These include 78,111 people in Sangli district in western Maharashtra and 40,882 in Kolhapur district.
In the flood-affected cities such as Chiplun, Khed and Mahad in Konkan, the administration is in the process of restoring the water and electricity supply and procuring food and medicine for the residents.
“Schools, as well as some private land, are being used as accommodation and first aid centers for the injured,” said a senior official.
34 NDRF TEAMS DEPLOYED FOR RESCUE OPS
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has dispatched 34 rescue teams to the coastal areas of the state. An NDRF spokesman said the teams were deployed in the affected areas of Mumbai, Ratnagiri, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Satara, Sangli, Sindhudurg, Kolhapur, Pune and Nagpur after consultation with the state administration.
That NDRF teams rescued around 1,800 stranded people and so far have evacuated 87 people to safer places. So far, they have recovered 52 bodies from landslide sites. The search for the missing person is ongoing.

The NDRF teams each have 47 employees and are equipped with rescue equipment, inflatable boats, and tree and pole cutters. A 24×7 NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with the state authorities.
In addition to the NDRF, local administration teams and the army are also involved in rescue and relief work.
STATE AND CENTRAL GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCE FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Maharashtra Deputy Prime Minister Ajit Pawar announced financial support of Rs 5 lakh for the relatives of each victim in rain-related incidents.
The central government has now pledged 2 lakh rupees per family that has lost a member as a result of the disaster.
PN arenarendramodi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each from PMNRF for the next of kin of those who lost their lives in a landslide in Raigad, Maharashtra. Rs. 50,000 would be given to the injured.

The state government will also distribute ration packages with rice, pulses and kerosene to all residents of the affected areas.
MHADA RECONSTRUCTION OF THE LANDSLIDE-AFFECTED VILLAGE TALIYE
Maharashtra Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad said Saturday that the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) would adopt and rebuild Taliye village in Raigad district. He said MHADA will convert the devastated area into a model village with well-built houses, schools, hospitals and places of worship.
A devastating landslide hit the village in the Raigad district on Thursday. So far, 41 bodies have been recovered, according to the authorities more are still missing.
CM THACKERAY VISITS TALIYE VILLAGE
On Saturday, Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray visited the village of Taliye in the Raigad district.
He said the villagers would be fully compensated and rehabilitated by the government. “You will be taken care of. Don’t worry, ”Thackeray told the villagers during his visit.
“You have experienced a great tragedy. Hence, for the moment, all you have to do is take care of yourself. Leave the rest to the government. Speaking to reporters, the Prime Minister said: “People who live on mountain slopes and hilly areas are being relocated and relocated. A plan would be drawn up to permanently relocate small settlements from such locations. “
“In the west of Maharashtra, flooding is observed during the monsoons due to the rise in the water level of the rivers. Therefore, a policy for water management in this region would be formulated, ”added the Prime Minister.
Toll in the SATARA district rises to 22
At least 22 people have so far died in rain-related incidents and the three landslides in the Satara district of Maharashtra. Twenty others are missing.
Up to 379 villages in this district in western Maharashtra were affected by heavy rainfall. Over 5,000 people have been moved to safer places.
Three teams from the NDRF are currently deployed in the district. The district administration has requested the use of additional teams.
IAF PROVIDES SUPPORT
On Saturday the Indian Air Force flew 10 tons of load and 100 people from Kolkata to Pune and 20 tons of load together with 92 NDRF personnel from Vadodara to Kohlapur with their aircraft for relief measures.
In addition, two Mi-17 helicopters were used to explore the air in the affected area and to de-induce an NDRF team from Ratnagiri to Mumbai.
Another Mi-17 was used by the Prime Minister, Chief Secretary and other officials to investigate the affected areas. The IAF also ensured that additional aircraft were available for use if necessary.
FORECAST FOR SUNDAY
The India Meteorology Department (IMD) said Saturday that rainfall intensity along the west coast is expected to decrease over the next 24 hours.
Officials said the Krishna River in Sangli and Panchganga in Kolhapur are flooded, even when the rain has subsided.
The Maharashtra government is coordinating with neighboring Karnataka to ensure that the water from the Almatti Dam is drained in time to ease the flooding in the Kolhapur district.
