On her birthday, a woman is said to have been raped in a five-star hotel in Mumbai after her friend added her drink. She is currently being treated in a hospital in the city.
Proceedings under Sections 328 and 376 of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) have been recorded against the defendant. He has yet to be arrested.
In her complaint, the woman said the incident occurred while they were going to a five-star hotel in Mumbai’s Worli district for her birthday, according to a report in the Hindustan Times.
The woman said she met the defendant through a dating app and they chatted for over a month. On Monday, the defendant organized a birthday party for the woman in the suite of a five-star hotel and asked her to come there. Once there, the defendant offered her a glass of wine, the woman said in her complaint.
The woman said she became sleepy shortly afterwards, after which the defendant sexually abused her.
“The woman became sleepy after drinking wine, which the defendant allegedly sexually assaulted her,” police told HT.
The woman was taken to a hospital where she told her family about the incident. Proceedings were then initiated against the defendant.
As the police announced, attempts are being made to arrest the accused.
