Violence and protests have ravaged Afghanistan since the Taliban took control of the country. The protests against the Taliban takeover spread to other cities on Friday, including the capital Kabul.
In the midst of the chaos, anti-Taliban fighters reportedly killed some fighters and freed three districts from Taliban control.

Later in the day, US President Joe Biden said US forces carried out one of the most difficult airlifts and evacuated 13,000 people. This comes at a time when the US President is facing flak over his decision to withdraw US forces from Afghan soil. NATO also promised to speed up the evacuation of people and to help other countries.
There are currently 5,200 US soldiers on site to support the evacuation process. Read on to find out what happened on Friday.

1) Resistance forces capture three districts in Afghanistan from the Taliban
Public resistance forces under Khair Muhammad Andarabi claims they have retaken three districts – Pol-e-Hesar, Deh Salah and Banu – from control of the Taliban. The resistance forces are now advancing in the direction of other parts of the city. They said the Taliban “did not act in terms of a general amnesty”. Afghan news agency Asvaka said “a number of Taliban have been killed and injured”.

Pol-e-Hesar district, which was reportedly retaken by local resistance forces on Friday, is north of Kabul and is near the Panjshir Valley. It’s the Panjshir valley, from where the Afghan resistance rallies against the Taliban.

2) Indian embassy denies reports of Taliban raids
Amid reports of Taliban’s entry into Indian consulates in Kandahar and Herat, local embassy staff in Kabul said there had been no such raid on the facility.
Sources told local staff at the Indian embassy in Kabul that there was no such incident, including any searches or searches.

As part of a new exercise, the Taliban reportedly went to all diplomatic missions in Afghanistan evacuated last week to check with local staff.
The consulates in Kandahar and Mazar-e-Sharif had also been searched by the Taliban fighters, the reports said, but no building had been occupied by them. All missions abroad were surrounded by the Taliban and sealed off by ordinary people.
3) Every third Afghan is threatened by severe or acute hunger: UN
The combined effects of war and drought related to global warming have a third of the Afghan population – 14 million people – threatened by severe or acute hunger, warned the UN World Food Program. The grim assessment comes as the country faces an uncertain future after the Taliban pushed the government to take power over the weekend.
4) NATO promises to speed up evacuations
More than 18,000 people have been flown out of Kabul since the Taliban took over the Afghan capital, a NATO official said on Friday and promised to double evacuation efforts as criticism of the West’s handling of the crisis increased.
Thousands of people desperate to flee the country were still huddled together the airport, the official, who refused to be identified, told Reuters, despite the Taliban urging people without legal travel documents to go home.

5) Airlift in Kabul “most difficult”: Biden
US President Joe Biden said 13,000 people were evacuated in the largest and most difficult airlift in history. The US President added that he “cannot guarantee the end result of the risky evacuation of Kabul“.

6) Taliban kill relatives of a journalist in Afghanistan
Taliban insurgents shot a relative of a journalist for Deutsche Welle while chasing him, the public broadcaster said. The militants carried out a door-to-door search for the journalist, Who works in Germany now, said DW on Thursday. A second relative was seriously injured, but others were able to flee, it said without giving any information about the incident.
7) The Afghan pop star Aryana flees the country on a US cargo flight
Afghanistan’s greatest female pop star Aryana Sayeed was one of the few Afghan women who managed to leave the country on a US flight from Kabul. Sayeed confirmed her escape after the Taliban takeover the city of Kabul on Thursday in an Instagram post.
Aryan Sayeed, who has 1.3 million followers on Instagram, said in the post: “I am alive and well and after a few unforgettable nights I have reached Doha, Qatar, waiting for my eventual flight back to Istanbul.”
8th) Taliban invade Afghanistan Cricket Board headquarters
Afghanistan cricket board (ACB) President Hamid Shinwari has claimed that there is no threat to the game despite the Taliban captured the capital Kabul.
However, there is great uncertainty about the future of Afghan cricket and its players.
A picture that is making the rounds on social media shows that the Taliban have invaded the ACB headquarters in Kabul. Interestingly, the Taliban fighters did were accompanied by former Afghan cricketer Abdullah Mazari.

Shinwari said Monday that the sport will not suffer in the war-ravaged country as the Taliban love and support cricket. He also said Afghan cricketers and their families are safe.

9) Taliban tie a man’s hand and arrest him for showing the Afghan flag
In a video that went viral on social media, An Afghan man is arrested by Taliban insurgents because wearing the Afghan national flag under the windshield of his car. In the video you can see some people who are supposed to be Taliban fighters, tear off the gherao car and the flag on the windshield. They later tied the man’s hands behind his back and arrested him.

10) No decision to form a government until August 31st
An Afghan official familiar with Taliban talks told the Associated Press news agency that the group has no plans to make any decisions or announcements about the incoming administration until the August 31 withdrawal date of the US withdrawal.

The official, who has no authority to divulge information to the media and therefore spoke anonymously, said Taliban negotiator Anas Haqqani had told his former government interlocutors that the group had a deal with the US until after the final one Withdrawal “nothing to do”. Date is passing.
