Afghan protesting outside UNHCR loses relatives in Kabul blast

Hezratulla called on the United Nations and the international community to help the country get out of this “bloodbath”.

“My only request to the United Nations and the whole world is to treat us, the Afghan refugees, as human beings. We lose our own every day. The Taliban are not Afghans, only 20 percent of them belong to Afghanistan and come from Arab countries , Chechnya and most of them from Pakistan. My brother’s sons were 18, 17 and 10 years old. Was that an age to die? Can’t the world help us out of this bloodbath? ” he said.

Hezratulla said his sister-in-law and many other members of his extended family have been missing since the explosions at Kabul airport.

“I try to call everyone in Kabul who can give me information about the whereabouts of my family members. I have been begging for a life for my family at the UNHCR office for five days. What are you waiting for? We are going to die to make them believe we are in trouble and need refugee status, “said Hezratulla.

“I lost my father in a bomb explosion as a child, two brothers a few years later, and now my older brother and his sons are no more. We admire the Indian government and the Indian people, but the UNHCR is doing nothing for us. ”“ Hezratulla said.

Numerous Afghan nationals, including women and children, have been protesting for refugee status in front of the UNHCR office in New Delhi since Monday. They said they would continue their protest until their demands were met by the global corporation.
