August Kranti Diwas: PM Modi says Quit India Movement energised India’s youth

On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Quit India movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Mahatma Gandhi-inspired movement is stepping up the fight against colonialism and invigorating the country’s youth.

“Tributes to the great who took part in the Quit India movement, which played a vital role in strengthening the struggle against colonialism. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, the spirit of the Quit India movement echoed across India and enlivened the youth of our nation. ”PM Modi announced this in a tweet on Monday.

Home Secretary Amit Shah said the Quit India movement was a mass revolution that forced the British to kneel down and forced them to leave India.

“On that day in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi started the Quit India Movement with the slogan ‘Do or Die’. It was not just a movement against the ruthlessness of British rule, but a movement for independence – the British kneel down and forced them to leave India, “Amit Shah said in a tweet.

“The story of August Kranti is full of heroic tales of countless unsung warriors that will continue to inspire future generations,” he added.

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said: “On the Day of the Movement to Leave India, let us remember the innumerable sacrifices made by the brave sons and daughters of India who participated in the movement to liberate our motherland from colonial rule.”

“Let us rededicate ourselves to eradicating poverty, illiteracy, inequality, corruption and social evils such as caste formation, communalism and gender discrimination from India. Let’s make progress together towards a more inclusive and confident Atmanirbhar Bharat, ”he said in a tweet.

The Quit India movement was an important milestone in the Indian struggle for freedom and is celebrated every year as August Kranti Day. On that day in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi called all Indians “Do or Die” to drive British colonizers out of the country.
