Congress not serious about North East, AIUDF BJP’s B-team: Sushmita Dev | Exclusive


A week after she joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) Surprisingly, former Mahila Congressman Sushmita Dev questioned the Congress party’s intention to fight the BJP in the northeast on Tuesday.

In an exclusive interview with Aaj Tak Bangla, the sister channel of India Today, Sushmita Dev described the position of the Congress Party in Assam as “confused”. “Congress entered into an alliance with the AIUDF (All India United Democratic Front). Now, after the outcome, the AIUDF and Congress MLAs are praising the Prime Minister, ”she said.

“Why did we make such a sacrifice? It was all with the aim of defeating the BJP. It was an ideological struggle. But if everyone praises the CM with one voice, where is the place of the opposition? ”Sushmita Dev added.

Before the elections to the Assam Assembly, the former Silchar MP had openly expressed her reservations about the congressional seat-sharing agreement with the AIUDF, particularly in the Barak Valley. “My personal view was that we might have lost, but it was still possible to turn the party around, unlike now when we have an alliance,” she said.

AIUDF BJP’s B-TEAM: SUSHMITA DEV

Using the analogy of West Bengal’s Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee, who names the B-Team of the Congress-CPI (M) in Bengal, Sushmita Dev said that the AIUDF was playing the same role as the BJP in Assam.

Sushmita Dev expressed doubts about the future of Congress in Assam, saying the party had only lost ground in states like Tripura by allying itself with the left in West Bengal.

“Congress hasn’t even formed a Pradesh committee for two years. As a national party, Tripura only has two seats for them. But for Mamata di, who wants to leave Bengal, these two seats are much more important. For them there are two more places outside of Bengal. Congress focuses solely on the larger states, ”said Sushmita Dev.

“NO BETTER ALTERNATIVE TO BJP THAN MAMATA BANERJEE”

“It is obvious that Mamata di did not get me for a seat in Bengal. It’s an extraordinary move and shows how serious the TMC is about the Northeast, ”said Sushmita Dev.

NEVER ASSISTED OR ASSISTED CAA: SUSHMITA DEV

Sushmita Dev explained her position on issues like the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), accusing the BJP of twisting their words during the state elections in Assam.

“What I said was that those who were expelled from the NRC cannot remain stateless. There has to be a solution within the constitutional framework and not on the basis of religion or ethnicity. But the BJP twisted it and went to Muslim Bengali and said Sushmita Dev supported CAA, while telling Hindu Bengali that Sonia and Rahul Gandhi were against it. I never said that I support or oppose CAA. I just said that those who are kept away from NRC cannot remain stateless, ”Sushmita Dev said.
