Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs, including Derek O’Brien and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, were seen enjoying “papri chaat” during Tuesday’s monsoon session.
That development comes hours after the central government criticized O’Brien for a tweet in which he drew parallels between parliamentary procedure and prepare ‘papri-chaat’.
The previous Monday, TMC MP Rajya Sabha, Derek O’Brien, went to Twitter to publish a chart analysis of parliamentary procedures. “In the first 10 days, Modi-Shah rushed through and passed 12 bills with an average time of UNDER SEVEN MINUTES per bill,” said O’Brien.
Then he remarked, “Pass laws or make paprika chaat!”

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had strong objections to Derek O’Brien’s tweet.
“A tweet was posted by TMC (Rep. Derek O’Brien) yesterday. PM Modi said it was an insult to people who voted for MPs. PM Modi has expressed fear“Prahlad Joshi told reporters.
When asked about the disruption in parliament and the “Papri-Chaat” policy between the ruling party and the opposition, TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said responsibility for running the house rests on the benches of the Treasury.
“The government should come up and give the date and time of the discussion. We’ll attend and listen. The highest people should come up and attend. Tom, Dick, and Harry wouldn’t know the details. It’s like a cyber” war against us, “said Dastidar, referring to the Pegasus question.
In response to PM Modi’s response to Derek O’Brien’s tweet, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said, “What are they? [Centre] to do? The government does not allow any discussion. Rights disregard people’s democratic rights. “
