The former Prime Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Kalyan Singh, died on Saturday in Lucknow of complications from sepsis and multiple organ failure.
He was 89 years old and was admitted to the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in critical condition in the intensive care unit (ICU) on July 4.
After CM Yogi Adityanath received the news of Kalyan Singh’s deteriorating health, he canceled his visit to Gorakhpur and reached PGI. This was the second time in 24 hours that CM Yogi learned of the former Prime Minister’s welfare.

On Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Nodi said: “The generations to come will be forever grateful to Kalyan Singh Ji for his contributions to the cultural renewal of India. He was firmly rooted in Indian values and was proud of our centuries-old traditions. “
Union Minister Rajnath Singh said he had lost an “older brother” and a “companion” and that the gap left by his death could hardly be filled.
“May God give his grieving family patience and strength during this difficult time of grief. Oh peace! ”He tweeted in Hindi.

Rajnath Singh called his death “a great loss for Indian politics” and said that “Kalyan Singh has worked hard since Jana Sangh’s time to make the BJP strong and to reach out to all segments of society.
“This country will always remember him for his important role in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement. His death is a great loss for Indian politics and a very sad moment for me,” he said in a subsequent tweet.

Expressing grief over the death of Kalyan Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari tweeted in Hindi: “The news of the death of our high-ranking leader, respected Kalyan Singh ji, is extremely sad. Kalyan Singh ji was the main contributor to Jan Sangh and BJP in Uttar Pradesh. “
