India has reported 38,628 new Covid-19 cases and 617 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s active case count to 12/4,153.
The Covid recovery rate in India is now 97.37%.
The country also reported 40,017 recoveries in the past 24 hours, the Department of Health and Family Welfare said.
So far, a total of 4.27.371 people have died of Covid-19 India.
The active cases account for 1.29% of the total cases and the weekly test positivity rate (TPR) remains below 5%.
The five states with the highest recorded cases are Kerala with 19,948 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 5,539 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 2,209 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,985 cases and Karnataka with 1,805 cases.
81.51% of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 51.64% of the new cases.
India has also passed a significant milestone with the administration of 50 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses as part of the ongoing nationwide vaccination campaign.
