Opener KL Rahul backed up his brave 84 in the opening test with a brilliant hundred to break India’s seven-year drought at Lord’s on Thursday. Rahul was the first Indian after Ajinkya Rahane and the tenth overall to receive a place on the Honors Boards in the home of cricket.

Rahul put in his second hundred against England in Tests with 212 balls, while India scored 245 for 2 at the time of this writing. Rahul had hit 9 limits and 1 six by the time he hit three-digit numbers.

Rahul went on par with England’s pedigree-tempo attack and got away with a stylish hundred, which helped his squad take control of the game in the final session of the opening day.

It is noteworthy that Rahul was also the first batsman to hit the hundreds in the 2021-23 cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. This is KL Rahul’s 6th Test hundred and his second against England.

England vs. India, 2nd test day 1: Live results and updates

Rahul fought his mind to keep most of the deliveries on the fourth channel outside the stump and didn’t play around with those incoming deliveries much and knew where their exit was and covered the swing. When Rohit left the scene, Rahul increased the stake and ended the opening day with a glowing sixth test hundred.

The Indian opening pair KL Rahul (55 with 143 balls) and Rohit negated the cloudy conditions on a good playing surface during the opening grandstand of the visiting team in the first century since the 2007 tour.

After negotiating two deliveries that went away, Rohit was surprised by one who came in, much to the delight of Anderson, who overcame a close field of four to keep his place on the team. Anderson struck again in the 50th round when Cheteshwar Pujara fell to nine after displacing an outswinger against Jonny Bairstow on the third slip to leave the guests 150-2. But Rahul increased the goalscoring rate after Rohit’s departure and brought his half-century up.

England, who had to do without seaman Stuart Broad due to a right calf tear, challenged Haseeb Hameed, Moeen Ali and Wood, while Zak Crawley and Dan Lawrence made way.

The teams tied the first game of the five-game series after the final day at Trent Bridge was washed out.
