In one of its largest operations in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Investigative Agency (NIA) raided 45 locations in 14 districts of Union territory in connection with a terrorist financing case.
The NIA sniffer dogs, with the support of the J&K police and the CRPF, raided the homes of members of the Jamaat-e-Islami, an outfit banned by the central government in 2019 due to its pro-Pakistani and pro-separatist leanings.
The NIA conducted the raids to review the resurgence of Jamaat-e-Islami activities in Jammu and Kashmir despite the ban.
A senior DIG and a team from Delhi had flown to Srinagar prior to the raids.
The raids were carried out in Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipore, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and Rajouri districts.
On July 31, the NIA searched 14 locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with cases related to the recovery of the IED and the arrest of Lashkar-e-Mustafa’s Commander-in-Chief, Hidayatullah Malik.
